A pretty amazing story, and not amazing in a good way. Some guy in California literally tried to sell his daughter’s hand in marriage for beer, soda, gatorade, meat, etc…
(I would have at least asked for a couple of second round draft picks and cash considerations)

In exchange, Galindo was to pay Martinez $16,000 and provide him with 160 cases of beer, 100 cases of soda, 50 cases of Gatorade, two cases of wine, and six cases of meat…”

Just sounds like an arranged marriage with a dowry involved. Not sure I see the news, but like your points about the draft choice.

Seriously? Well first and foremost, California law prohibits arranged marriage where one or both of the parties have been coerced. Secondly the girl is 14 years old and the age of consent is 18 (even the age limit on parent approved marriage is 16). Lastly, the fact that he included beer as a part of the dowry is pretty deplorable in my opinion. But maybe that’s just me…
